# My Time at NMSU's Welcome Back Brunch

Both NMSU and DACC students were welcomed back to campus with a full belly. I was a lucky part of the group who attended this event on the NMSU campus for a Welcome Back Brunch. It was held Friday, August 21st at the Garcia Center. The event was for all NMSU and DACC students where they were able to view resources offered on campus. It highlighted programs for Latino students and other ethnicities.

 I had the opportunity to talk with Trey Rosales, one of the people in charge of the event to tell me more. Trey told me that he plans to have these events once a month so students can learn about resources on campus. This event also helps students/ people from different groups to interact and connect. 

One of the bigger drivers of the event was the food – which is a way to a college student’s soul. Participating restaurants that are on or near the NMSU campus were in attendance. Among the restaurants were El Jefe and Amigos and Yellow Falafel, a company run by an NMSU professor on campus. Rosales also said they are looking to not just help provide food for students, but also to have cooking classes. They are showing different things offered and bringing people together, no matter what group they are a part of, and whether it be NMSU or DACC, they are for both campuses.

The experience at the event was nice, there was plenty of shade so that way no one was sitting or standing under the summer sun. Will at the event the people that were at the booths for the different programs were very informative and easy to talk to, and they explained about their program and things that are offered. At the event I ate pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread) from the new bakery across the street called Amigo’s Restaurant & Bakery it was one of the restaurants that where at the event and provided food for students to enjoy. I will be attending more events so I can keep up with the different programs that are on campus and if there are any new programs.
